Beside Sound Bites vegan grocery shop (where the café gets most of its produce), up a narrow flight of stairs. Opens at 11 a.m. Note: accepts CASH only. “Our vegetables and bread are organic. All items on this menu are suitable for vegans” – it’s so great to see that statement on a menu! Menu includes hot drinks, soup of the day, special meal of the day, desserts, several gluten-free items, a ploughman’s lunch, nut roast or bangers and mash, toasties, all-day full breakfast, etc. I had a good fennel soup with bread and vegan spread, £3.45; and the Harvest Toastie: veg sausage, melted vegan cheddar and local chutney, £3.40, very tasty and satisfying, though some edges were dry. The seating area is a room of crazy décor and shelves of books for sale. The small bathroom was clean.
