  • Prague's hidden gem

Set at the back of a courtyard near the top of the long and steep Nerudova Street is one of the most hidden and best value vegetarian restaurants in Prague. Run by the ever smiling Jaroslav and his excellent assistant Honza one is guaranteed personal and friendly service from the moment one walks down the half dozen steps and opens their door. Inside a warm and soothing atmosphere awaits beneath a low roof and spotless black and white chequered floor. The space is small but amply furnished by the most comfortable of cream-coloured leather chairs while on the pristinely whitewashed walls a number of discrete photographs attest to the indian nature of the cuisine. And what cuisine it is - for a sum of about 4 euro Jaro or Honza will bring you the meal of the day beautifully laid out upon his standard steel plate. The main dish usually is of a subji and rice combination but first sample the soup, a delightful and original creation of Jaroslav's. Finally leave room for the exquisite halva, a dessert to remember. And...if you are still hungry Jaro or Honza will fill plate again. An unforgettable experience from two gentlemen.
