- Eastside Farmers Market worth the drive
My favorite Houston area Farmers Market! Sponsored by Urban Harvest, Locally based organization promoting gardening education & sustainable, environmentally responsible community gardening. Sponsors school & church gardens, supports food banks, runs a fruit tree sale each January offering plants that grow well in southeast Texas. Lots of educational informational handouts at the market, & periodic seminars. All vendors are carefully vetted for this Saturday market, and a Wednesday satellite seasonal market at Houston City Hall. Vegan vendors include Sinfull Bakery, Ripe-Cuisine food truck, Guudbelly's, andPat Greer's Kitchen YaYa (mostly vegan, mostly raw, some items contain honey). Sadly, Radical Eats, once a vegan mainstay in the area, has closed. Nisha's Indian food has some vegan options. Abundant seasonal fresh produce available, some organic, all local. Includes a market growers areas where small, backyard growers get together to sell their surplus. Also has a pet adoption area. Updated from previous review on Thursday December 10, 2015
