Excellent wallnut/Aubergine dish I first ate in Gong Delin when I was in Beijing in 1990. At that time it was a bitter disappointment as the desinterested state company it was. Since the Qianmen waidajie has been de/up?graded in a chique boulevard. The original Gong De Lin has now moved to the 前门东大街（qianmendongdajie）corner祈年大街。It still has a bit of the old state company flavour. But the dishes are mostly good. Ther should be more "non mockmeat" dishes on the menu. And why not ask a real musician to play.
