  • Yummy Soul Food

We went into this experience knowing we weren't going to be eating "healthy". We all felt a little cruddy the next day from the full-out fried food, but all agreed it was worth it for this one time experience and a trip back into comfort food land, which was a fun and nostalgic adventure for me. Together, our whole group tried the fried okra, chicken fried steak, chicken fried tofu, artichoke dip and rosemary bread, red beans and rice, corn bread, and mac and cheese. Everything was good, we had tons of leftovers, it was all filling. The red beans and rice tasted authentic (everything did). The chicken fried steak and artichoke and rosemary bread was my favorite. My husband really liked the corn bread. I wish they would give a little more rosemary bread with the meal, but they were happy to give us more when we asked. They served vegan butter and my non veg friends were amazed at how much it tasted like genuine clarified butter. The chicken fried steak was great, but it was definitely fried. Overall, a great experience. Go into it knowing that you're going to be eating some great, but greasy food.
