- Free Bird Cafe - great eats serving great cause!
Love this cafe near Tha Pae gate. Sweet outdoor garden dining area. Yummy food and drinks: favorites include the Shan som tum, tea leaf salad, and coconut shakes. Several options for Shan food which one doesn't find hardly anywhere else. And the income from the restaurant supports the school which serves Burmese refugees and hill tribe peoples, who cannot go to school otherwise. Check out the shop which sells really nice Pure Pai products and second hand clothing (donate too if you have extra items or baht).
