  • The "Best" Midditerranean Restaurant ?? Maybe...

I hate to say one is better than the other, because Wichita is sooo blessed with Many Middle Eastern or Mediterranean restaurants... N&J's, Byblos, MIF Deli, LeMonde Cafe, College Hill Cafe & Catering, that's all I can think of right this minute. The Mediterranean Cafe over by the E. Target on Armour street near Towne East. Whatever. So this place does have meat, okay - beef, chicken, it's halal & kosher. But there's PLENTY to eat for vegetarians & vegans - baba ghanoush, hummus, many times a vegetarian soup like lentil soup or mushroom soups (SOO Yummy!), fattoush salads, can order a side of freshly prepared grilled veggies, cooked rice pilafs, lebnah (cheese), fresh made pita bread, it goes on and on. If you need help going, maybe the thinly-veiled threat/bribe of voluptuous Belly-dancing Beauties on Friday & Saturday nights will be enough to inspire you to come (or to come on a day/time when they will NOT be there, as you can be sure the place is packed on the weekends of Belly Dance performances!). The staff can seem a bit slow and disorganized about taking & delivering orders - they seem to have rules of their own, and I've yet to figure out the pattern. But when it arrives, the food never disappoints. They also prepare foods to go, so I've been known to show up and get a huge order of Tabouli to go with a side of hummus and pita bread. It's all good. Oh and they have a grocery store off to the side, so you can shop for all kinds of exotic imported canned foods, fresh breads, lebnah cheese, bulk nuts & seeds, and you mustn't forget to avail yourself of the wonderfully made baklava made there at N&J's (why do you think it is called N&J Cafe & Bakery?? It's no joke!).
