  • Good and not so good points...

This was the very first cafe we visited in London on our recent visit and it seemed fantastic: right in the middle of Camden, near the markets, overlooking the canal. My partner and I were attended to by a friendly barista who engaged me in a conversation about the differences in coffee language between Australia and the UK. Both my partner and I dived right in and ordered the big breakfast, which consisted of sausages, hash browns, beans, mushrooms, scrambled tofu and grilled tomato - a bit of a protein fest. I think this pretty much exhausted me of big vegan breakfasts for the whole three weeks I was in Britain. My partner had to take some of his home. The soy latte I ordered was delicious so I ordered another. We came back the next day and had smaller breakfasts with only some of the components of the big one. I was pretty much sold on this place and looking forward to bringing along my friend, who thought the name ‘inSpiral Lounge’ was great. Unfortunately when I did bring here, we were a bit disappointed. By the time we got there, which wasn’t that late, all the mains on the menu had run out and only a small amount of the rather mediocre buffet was left. To console ourselves we ordered a slice of hazelnut tart for dessert with coffees but unfortunately not even this hit the spot, as the tart was a bit dense and needed something creamy to balance it. I think next time I have to come here for lunch. At least I can grab a decent coffee.
