The Canteen is unimposing on the outside, in an upcoming part of Cardiff that hasn't got up to where its going yet. However, although it looks a little downmarket on the outside, the story inside is very different. Wayne, the social worker/chef with the bandana has taken a well worn old cafe premises and freshened it up. Its not posh, but its clean, comfortable and welcoming. The real beauty of this place, though, is in the food. The menu is small, eclectic, very varied and changes monthly. There really is something to suit everyones taste buds here, and there are vegan options on most dishes, plus a token meat dish for your carniverous friends. Prices are very reasonable for food of this quality and drinks are reasonably priced or you can bring your own. In my view, this is the best veggie food in Cardiff. Highly recommended.
