- check out Marie-Min Mandalay
Visited Mandalay again in November 2009. Lot of new restaurants since I last visited in 2001. Also went to Marie-Min vegetarian restaurant again. Still a very nice and quiet place to sit down and have something to eat or drink. Everything is freshly cooked in boiled water. Great chappatis en vegetable curry. A bit more expensive then the chinese places. And no beer. This is really a pitty. I heared that the price of a alcoholpermit is high. But the owner was thinking about getting one. Maybe by now he has. The restaurant is moved from the groundfloor to the first floor where it gets a really nice breese. Friendly english speaking owner and staff. Owner told business is slack since in the LP edition of 2009 it was suggested the prices in Marie Min are a bit high. I found them comparable to what you pay in other traveler eatingplaces. I wrote down some information about the menu. Vegetarian curry k1200; rice k300; chapati k300; fried noodles with vegetables and fried eggs k1500; somosa 7 pieces k1500; banana/papaya milkshake k1200; lassi/bananalassi k1200; coke k300; tea k300 But beware. Changing rates change fast in Myanmar. So prices are bound to change too! Check it out yourself en feel free to edit!
