  • Just a great meal at the pub

My friend and I had our first dinner in Glasgow here and it was a very nice experience. We were there on a Sunday and it had a really relaxed atmosphere and an old pub feel. A friendly, chatty bartender took care of us and we bought a pint and sat down on the couch with the menu. I felt it my duty to sample the 78 burger which sounded like a signature dish, and I was advised it was very good. My own verdict was that it was one of the most interesting burgers I’d ever tasted, with a dominant ginger flavour. However, while it was good, it was not the best I’d ever had. Full points for distinctiveness though and pretty reasonable pricewise (although it would stack up if you added extras). My companion chose the pea, spinach and coriander soup, and measured all soups that followed at other places by this benchmark. After dinner and a pint we finished off nicely by sharing three scoops of different flavoured ice cream. If I lived here I’d be here all the time.
