- paramita vegetarian restaurant - tin hau
i'm rather a cheapskate when eating out alone and just need a simple meal to fill my belly. which is why the cheaper menu displayed outside paramita has been on my radar for some time, with prices ranging from hkd48 to hkd58 for solo servings of noodles or rice vermicelli (compared to more expensive dishes for sharing which might be too much for one). the catch is that it's only available from 11 am to 6 pm. i finally got the chance to try it today. as i wanted something that sounded like i wouldn't be able to whip up at home, i chose a bowl of sour and spicy mock goose rice vermicelli (hkd48), which was piquant and warmed me on a gloomy rainy evening. it had enough julienned veggies but a tad too much oil, and i suspect it might be too spicy for some. hkd6 was automatically included for a pot of tea and with 10% service charge on top of that it added up to a hkd59 meal. if you're on an even tighter budget than i am, there are other options in the area such as kam heung or lotus vegetarian. at 5+ pm, there was only another solo diner and two friends, plus the team of staff dining, so it made for a pleasant enough experience. in case it matters to anyone, soft buddhist chants are played in the background, but, hey, you're at paramita.
