  • Cafe still a class act but burger needs attention

Finally taking the chance to leave Melbourne after the restrictions were lifted, we took a trip to Geelong and headed here for lunch. I had no idea it had changed premises and was surprised and delighted to see it had moved into the amazing new space in the old CFA building - huge, bright and cool-looking, with a great courtyard. The menu was the same as I remembered from last time, which was not a bad thing. We ordered the Big Brekkie Bomb ($23) and the Real Big Mac ($24). The brekkie was quite delicious with its charred corn, smoked tofu and feta. The burger, while beautifully and colourfully presented (which I remember being a trademark of this cafe), was OK but unfortunately the portobello mushroom in it was just a little bitter, which made the dish less enjoyable than it might have been. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cabinet full of baked goods, including vegan croissants, was tempting. Despite minor issues with the menu, this place is still a class act.
