  • Probably the best place for veg food in Amsterdam

I went to Bolhoed for lunch and managed to secure a seat outside on a beautifully sunny Fall afternoon. You need to order inside at the counter, but be careful when crossing the road (between the restaurant and its outside seating) - scooters, bikes, cars and horses all use this bustling small street! The vegan options were plentiful for a lunch menu and I had a vegan croissant stuffed with tofu, seaweed and a curry seasoning. The croissant was tasty and a very innovative idea. It was served with a generous side of salad and a delicious hummous dressing. There are a selection of beers on offer as well as teas, juices and other soft drinks. About half of the desserts were vegan, and the vegan chocolate brownie was fantastic - I got it to go and it lasted me for nearly two days (huge portion!). All in all, a great veggie spot in central Amsterdam and a welcome break from the fast food culture of other areas.
