No this was not a mistake at all. There is only one Mother in Freo and we had eaten in there a few nights before and the evening menu was fully vegan. But upon returning on the Saturday for lunch we discovered that the actual kitchen is shut and there were instead ready-made take out dishes available which absolutely contained meat. Not mock meat - meat. No mistake. We were so surprised as I was under the impression Mother was 100% vegan. If you visited in the evening then yes, the menu was 100% vegan. This was back in May, and maybe now they have changed?? Best to check with the owners to get to the bottom of this. Either this place is 100% vegan or it is not.
