In addition to Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s surprise new album debut, music’s power couple recently set the gossip pages abuzz by announcing that for 22 days, Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay Z will go vegan for what Jay Z is calling “a spiritual and physical cleanse.” He explains, “This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan<\/a> challenged me to embrace a ‘plant-based breakfast’ every day. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought.”<\/p>\n

Could that “good friend and vegan” be the notoriously outspoken vegan hip-hop mogul and longtime PETA<\/a> supporter Russell Simmons<\/a>? Or could it be fellow rappers Flo Rida<\/a>, Ne-Yo<\/a>, Usher<\/a>, who have all reportedly gone vegan? Nope! It turns out that it’s Jay Z’s nutrition coach and chef, Marco Borges, who reports that Beyonc\u00e9 and Jay Z are loving eating vegan. “They feel great. Energy levels, everything,” he says.<\/p>\n

But who knows? Maybe being kind to animals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner will inspire Beyonc\u00e9 to cleanse her closet of cruelty, too.<\/p>\n
