During the Dim Sum meal, the idea is to socialize, eat, chat, rest, chat and eat some more. Repeat these steps till you&#8217;ve had your fill.<\/p>\n<p>Dim Sum originates from Hong Kong where there are at least 600 varieties of Dim Sum to choose from. Yikes &#8211; it&#8217;s like Asian Tapas on steroids. A lot of Dim Sum dishes are meat heavy and involves liberal amounts of MSG. This recipe traditionally calls for Oyster Sauce and MSG<\/p>\n<p>Here is a version, sans the Oyster sauce but is still tasty and won&#8217;t leave you with a spinning headache doomed for the couch (thanks to the MSG).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dim-Sum-Chow-Mein-Noodles.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4762\" alt=\"Dim Sum Chow Mein Noodles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dim-Sum-Chow-Mein-Noodles.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dim-Sum-Chow-Mein-Noodles.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dim-Sum-Chow-Mein-Noodles-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Dim Sum Soy Sauce Chow Mein Noodles<\/h2>\n<p>One 6 oz. package Chow Mein noodles (see picture below)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 teaspoons grapeseed oil or any other high heat oil (such as sunflower or peanut oil)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 yellow onion, cut in half and then sliced (see picture below)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 green onions, thinly sliced (use the white and green part of the onion)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 teaspoon sesame oil<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 tablespoons soy sauce<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 teaspoon rice vinegar<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/2 teaspoon sugar<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1\/4 teaspoon white pepper<\/p>\n<p><b><b><br \/>\n<i><\/i><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cook noodles per the direction on the package. Drain, rinse and set in a colander to dry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While the noodles are cooking, make the sauce by mixing al of the sauce ingredients into a small bowl and mixing to combine. Set aside.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Place oil in a large nonstick skillet and saute yellow onions for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so that the edges get browned.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add the green onions and cook for an additional 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Add in the cooked and drained noodles and the sauce, gently stir and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Garnish with toasted sesame seeds.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cook\u2019s Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The noodles boil for about 5 minutes.
