This takeout-only hole-in-the-wall spot features authentic Mediterranean\/Israeli cuisine. The falafel is fantastic and they have several off-menu vegan substitutes, like the vegan shakshuka or sabich. They also have a location in Salem situated on the end of Essex street. Vegan options aren&#8217;t necessarily marked, so make sure to ask the staff and read the menu carefully. They use FoMu ice cream, a Boston-based all vegan ice cream company, for their smoothies!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/goodnight-fatty-salem-200599?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goodnight Fatty &amp; Good Morning Chubby<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Only open on the weekends, they offer a vegan cookie the first weekend of the month in the evenings, while their vegan coconut-based soft serve is available every weekend. Good Morning Chubby is their breakfast menu (available Saturday and Sunday mornings) which also contains a few vegan options. Find this spot in the old carriage house across the street from the Witch Museum on Hawthorne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/the-juicery-salem-239607?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Juicery<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on Washington Street, this all-vegetarian smoothie and juice joint has plenty of vegan options including avocado toast, a\u00e7ai bowls, rotating sweets, and grab &#8216;n go noodle and salad dishes. Plus plenty of easily customizable smoothies!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Veg_Options\"><\/span>Veg Options<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot of places that can make a vegan plate for you off-menu, or have a singular vegan option on menu. I&#8217;m going to limit it to a few of my favorites that have many options!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/flying-saucer-pizza-company-salem-40084?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flying Saucer<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/gulu-gulu-cafe-salem-40085?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gulu-Gulu<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Right next to each other on the corner of Washington and Essex, and owned by the same people, these restaurants feature multiple vegan options each. Flying Saucer is a pizza place with a dedicated vegan menu as well as BYO pizza options. I&#8217;m not sure if they do it during October, but the Slice of the Week is a very generous portion if you&#8217;re not feeling a full pie! Gulu Gulu has several options including Vegan\/GF cr\u00eapes, sandwiches, and breakfast. Very extensive coffee menu too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/koto-grill-and-sushi-salem-108224?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Koto Grill &amp; Sushi<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Vegan sushi!! They have many explicitly labeled vegan rolls, appetizers, and dishes. I usually end up getting the Danny&#8217;s Roll and the Green Goddess. When the weather&#8217;s nice, they have a great patio open on the side of Washington Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barrio-tacos.com\/location\/salem\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external nofollow\">Barrio<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Their whole menu is labeled! They offer BYO tacos as well as some standard menu offerings including one vegan option called &#8220;El Vegano.&#8221; Two different types of seasoned tofu are available, plenty of vegan salsas, toppings, and more on the BYO menu! They&#8217;re tucked away on Lafayette Street behind the fire station on Derby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.happycow.net\/reviews\/bit-bar-salem-145446?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=blog_post_name\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bit Bar<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This retro arcade has several vegan options including dessert! They offer a beyond burger, a &#8220;pakora burger&#8221;, sides\/apps, chili, and seasonally vegan chili nachos. There are two vegan dessert options that I know of &#8211; cheesecake, and whoopie pies from Jodi Bees. They even have vegan milkshakes available with their chocolate sorbet and almond milk!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re heading to Salem this October or at another time of the year, you now know where to go to grab a nice vegan meal!
