\"veggie<\/a>When I stepped into the diner the first thing I saw \u2014 and smelled \u2014 was a tray of freshly-baked vegan donuts. Right then, I knew I had found a winner.<\/p>\n

Veggie Galaxy<\/a> in Cambridge was recommended to me by my couchsurfing host upon arrival in the city. Naturally, I carved out some time to pop in for a visit (two, actually). Known for their busy weekend brunches, I made sure to get there before the crowd so I had time to savour my breakfast. The restaurant itself is actually quite spacious, with seating for around eighty people. Even so, within an hour the place was bustling. The staff remained incredibly helpful and kind, even in the mounting rush,\u00a0answering all my questions as I pored over the tempting\u00a0menu.<\/p>\n

\"veggie<\/a>What I appreciated the most about Veggie Galaxy<\/a> is that their entire breakfast menu can be made vegan. For someone who travels regularly, I’m often left jumping through hoops and settling for secondary choices because certain items aren’t vegan. It was truly a luxury to be able to point to anything on their menu, from their omelettes to their sandwiches to their eggs Benedict to their fantastic desserts, and say\u00a0THIS PLEASE!<\/i><\/p>\n

While I was impressed by the staff (and their great choice of music) as well as the meals I had, what sealed the deal was the donut I had for dessert: it was stuffed with an Oreo!! Now, maybe an Oreo-stuffed donut isn’t the most healthy way to start your day, but it is certainly a delicious one. As a Canadian, I’ve had my fair share of donuts \u2014 including vegan ones. This was definitely one of the best I’ve had: not too oily, not too sweet, perfectly fluffy…and yes, stuffed with an Oreo. Absolutely divine.<\/p>\n

If I lived in Cambridge or Boston, Veggie Galaxy<\/a> would be a definite weekend staple. Be sure to check it out next time you’re near\u00a0Beantown!<\/p>\n
