\"A<\/a>After I wrote my first Vegan Guide To Toronto<\/a> here on HappyCow I received a lot of positive\u00a0feedback, and also a few suggestions for other vegan restaurants I had not included on my list. A\u00a0name that kept popping up was Porter House<\/a>. A vegan pub, Porter House<\/a> is a relatively new\u00a0addition to the Toronto vegan scene. Since I don’t drink alcohol I wasn’t really keen on checking it\u00a0out, but with so many positive reviews I decided to add it to my itinerary on my recent return to the\u00a0Great White North.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, I was not disappointed.<\/p>\n

We were greeted by an incredibly knowledgable and helpful staff member who gave us a run down\u00a0of the place. With a selection of over 50 craft beers and ciders \u2013 and staff that can tell you about all\u00a0of them \u2013 it’s no wonder this place is packed every night. If you’re a connoisseur of fine ales then\u00a0consider this a delicious oasis not to be missed. If you’re like me and not really into beer, don’t\u00a0worry, for the food alone makes a visit to Porter House<\/a> a worthwhile endeavour!<\/p>\n

The menu features some interesting takes on english pub standards. There is no fake meat on the\u00a0menu, which has led to the development of some surprisingly creative dishes. Their chana masala-topped fries, for example, were especially interesting and epically delicious, and their hearty lentil\u00a0and ale pasty was a savoury bite of olde fashioned heaven.<\/p>\n

My only complaint \u2013 and it can hardly\u00a0be considered one \u2013 is that the place itself is too small. Porter House<\/a> fills up quickly so you will\u00a0want to make sure you arrive early in the evening in order to snag a seat (aim for a booth \u2013 they are\u00a0SUPER comfortable!).<\/p>\n

Porter House<\/a> has definitely earned a place among the best of Toronto’s vegan scene. So, if you’re\u00a0going to be visiting Toronto you can officially add a visit to Porter House<\/a> to your itinerary \u2013 you\u00a0will not be disappointed!<\/p>\n
