Cafe and art gallery specializing in organic vegetarian lunches. Prices vary depending on contents of set. Menu changes daily, and a number of house-made cakes are available, as well as coffees and teas. Couple who runs the cafe speak French, English, Japanese, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese. Located on the the left side of the main road as one walks from the center of town to Okunoin cemetery, 150m from the main traffic lights. A stay in any one of 50 or so host "shukubo" temples in Koyasan includes a vegetarian dinner and breakfast. Many restaurants in town offer a shukubo meal as well. Sesame tofu and freeze dried tofu are its specialties. Lunch only. Located across from the Fugenin Temple, 1/2 block from the town's main street, Odawari-dori. 1000+ year-old Buddhist temple, Shukubo Koya-san Eko-in offers Japanese-style accommodation. Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. Meals are served at the guest room at scheduled times and feature Buddhist vegetarian cuisine. Groups of more than 4 people dine at the Japanese-style dining room, where chairs can be provided upon advance request.
