We stayed here for a week and without exception had our taste buds tantalised every day with home made vegan breakfasts and dinners that were adventurous re-workings of classic rustic style cooking as well as other more 'exotic' dishes. Anita's culinary background and passion for her food came across in every meal we had making it a joy to sit down at her table. The ease with which she rustled up a vegan feast made us almost as green with envy as her green spring onion infused pancakes that were served up for breakfast one morning. Joking aside, her cooking has given us a shot of inspiration and has encouraged us to adopt Anita's mindset to food in our own cooking since being back home. We have troubled her since for recipes which she of course has kindly provided.
The room we stayed in was a cosy double as advertised though be warned that the bed is perhaps too comfortable and will require a lot of exertion to get out of and hit the hills from. Luckily, the smells from the kitchen drifting up the stairs in the morning provided us with that much needed boost! The bathroom is very large with a large pile of fluffy towels as advertised, alternating between pink, white and green. The house as a whole is a home away from home and nothing is too much trouble for Anita whose welcoming hospitality leaves you feeling at ease straight away.
This BnB is particularly suitable for all you animal lovers out there with Nina the friendliest cat we have seen in a long time and Razz the Chihuahua with a VERY large personality.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone but especially to those who are vegan or have special dietary requirements. Anita's vast knowledge and attention to detail takes all of the typical meal time stress away from you leaving you to enjoy your Lake District visit.
