Cheap and nutritional

Order from the screen at the front of the food court
Located level 7
Reasonable meal, cheap, tasty-ish.
I had potato curry (it's got a good curry chilli kick), sweet n sour meal (weird texture) and pumpkin with blackbean on rice with pumpkin soup (very salty)

The soup is pretty much pumpkin with water

Oh and I got tea, it's a bottle of room temperature black tea, no sugar.

It was our cheap meal after a $100aud lunch splurge

Wouldn't eat it again..

Nice buffet

Nice for buffet, big portion fit for man, but they seems not accept cash, they use centralize ticket machine for ordering, payment by octopus, visa, mastercard, etc

Pros: Nice buffet, just pointing your finger, Portion is big, fit for me, Foodcourt place also quite nice

Cons: Communication has to be patient as language gap, The foodcourt location quite hard to spot, Aircond not quite cool as now is hot season

Cheap and fast

The set of 3 dishes comes with rice and soup cost only $40. The portion was generous. That’s why there’s always a long queue. The food quality was acceptable. With such low price, one can’t really ask for more.

Pros: Cheap

Tasty home-cooked meal at low price

It now provides 3 dishes and rice come with soup at a relatively low price. The staff allowed me to change the rice to steamed dumplings as I did not want to eat too much. There are 16 dishes for selection, I think all of them are home-cooked meal. It served a large portion of meal. The taste of foods what I chose was good. I like the pan-fried bean curd sheet rolls the most. Except the soup, the pan-fried bean curd sheet rolls were kept hot.

Convenient for when you need to catch the train

I was very happy to know that there's a vegetarian restaurant so close to the train station where I could grab some simple food to eat before traveling, but I was a bit disappointed by the quality of food that they offered. I ordered a set meal with three dishes, rice and soup, but the dishes were very greasy (didn't taste bad but the excessive oil made it too heavy for my body).

The staff was super friendly even though our communication wasn't very smooth.

Pros: friendly staff, the fact that it's next to the train station

Cons: greasy food

Convenient to Harbour Plaza Metropolis Hotel, Kowloon

The food mall in which this venue is located is attached to the Harbour Plaza Metropolis Hotel and so is very convenient for guests. Although the hotel has some vegetarian items in its sumptuous meal offerings they are not cheap. This cafe has cheap meals with large servings. However the food was a little bland to my taste. There was a set menu with a choice of three vegetable dishes, rice and soup. One of the choices was an egg dish but everything else was vegan. There are mock meats, so the menu does not seem vegan at first glance. Note it does not open until 9.30am! Over all though this makes a convenient place to eat for a vegan in this hotel.

Pros: Cheap food, Conveniently located for Harbour Plaza Metropolis , Almost exclusively vegan

Cons: Food was a little bland, OPENS AT 9.30AM, Serves one egg dish.

"Happy Veggie"

We followed the directions given by other members and found "Happy Veggie" which we think this place is now called. The people behind the counter were very friendly and my family all enjoyed a tasty lunch here. I had the soup + three dish special. My husband had a delicious spicy "pork" fried rice. One of my kids had udon noodles and the other a "beef" dish with noodles. Very satisfying and inexpensive.

Vegetarian Hut, Hong Kong

One of the dishes is an egg foo young type dish. The kitchen guy brings it the egg dish. To move it from the cooking tray to the serving tray he uses the tongs from the adjacent vegetable dish. He next puts the same tongs back in the vegetable dish. Thus the vegetable dish gets cross contaminated with egg cells.

This has been pointed out to them numerous times in Cantonese. They just don't get it.

I'd rate this place lower if I could.

Cons: No vegan awareness, Veg dishes cross contaminated with egg

Good fast food

There is a menu now, but most people are just getting rice with vegetables. Since the staff spoke no english we had to order something from the menu.

Topk us a while to figure out that 'beef' and 'chicken' are also vegetarian.

Pros: inexpensive and good

Cons: little english if the staff

Fast and Cheap

Staff is very friendly and their English has definitely improved over the years. Food (Chinese style only)is good and very inexpensive. Cuisine at places like Kung Tak Lam is certainly better, but also quite a bot more expensive. Vegetarian Hut is great for a fast and cheap meal!

Pros: good value, healthy cuisine, friendly staff

Canteen style food for your train ride into China

Vegetarian Hut is in the "Food Court" area of the Mall on the 8th floor - the daily customers are workers in the Metropolis Mall / Office Tower. To find it from Hung Hom Station take the outside escalator which is to the right of the "Cross Harbour Taxi Rank" - as you enter the Mall it is the 7th floor - go up on the first escalator that you see to the 8th floor - the Food Court is at the back of the floor. No menu - HK$ 25 (US$ 3)for a plate of rice with any 3 of the 12+ vegetable preps & a bowl of soup - HK$ 1 extra for a take away container - usually just one of the prep's contains eggs. A very simple place - no frills at all - it is Cantonese food so expect to see some oil! The owner speaks a little English. I opt for the disposable bamboo chopsticks - pre-used wooden chopsticks scare me. In my experience it is a safe place to eat. It looks shabby but the staff / cooks are conscientious. Very convenient if you are taking a train into China as there is NO veg*n food on those trains. From 12.30 to 14.00 expect a 20 person line / 10 minute wait.
