Sold out to junk food vegan - Edit
The restaurant known as Vegetable has sublet the place to a takeout fast fried food company. Thing like the wholesome food of Vegetable.

Aw that’s sad. Is this different than the burger menu they had in 2020?

Good food - Edit
During the pandemic I’m sad to say they kind of regressed to another vegan burger joint. Their regular menu is more vegetable focused and I hope it comes back. We had a few of the only thing not-burger currently: kale salad (amazing!) and grilled cheese with tomato soup (my friend loved it). You can get gluten-free options for most things here!

Good food, great service - Edit
Went for the first time! They have a special burger thing going on now called ‘burger plant’. I got a pineapple teriyaki smashburger (1 patty, super thin)...you can’t go wrong with pineapple teriyaki 🤤. The veggies looked and tasted super fresh. I opted out of cheese so with the patty being super thin, it fell apart fast. I ate it with a fork and knife. The service was great (super nice waitress) and I got some great mac n’ cheese to-go. Sucked eating outside by the street noise but it’s a pandemic, so what u gonna do 🤷♀️. I’m gonna have to come back to try their nut shakes...I suggested they sell them in flights so we can try multiple 😂

Underrated - Edit
I always love coming here and I always hate that this amazing place never gets any press considering how delicious it is. It’s a great find close to universal studios and it’s menu is 90%vegan/vegan optional. It’s comfort food at its best with rich flavors and mouth watering desserts. Forget sun cafe come here instead.

Excellent!!! - Edit
Went there as a party of four. All of us were very satisfied and enjoyed almost everything that came to the table.
Read moreThe courses that we had:
Grilled spicy sweet potato - very good! A bit spicy, but not too much.
Three bean chili (vegetarian version reviewed by my vegetarian friend) - a bit spicy, the best soup out of the 3. Exceptionally good.
Cheesy baked potato & carrot soup - very good.
Tomato & basil bisque soup - also very good.
Spring pea & mixed funghi pasta (vegan version) - amazing! Highly recommend!
Peas & carrots risotto (vegan version) - highly recommended!
The only downside was the vegan key lime pie dessert which was the first time all of us had key lime and overall we were all very disappointed.
Overall we were very happy with the meal and highly recommend the restaurant.
Pros: close to universal studios , amazing food
Cons: expensive, didn't like the key lime pie, non flexible in changing the courses

Amazingly Good! - Edit
Los Angeles seems to be the epicenter of vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Throw a dart on the L.A. map and you will hit a vegetarian/vegan restaurant. So it was no surprise to find Vegetable close to Universal Studios where we had spent the day. What was surprising was how amazingly good everything was at Vegetable.
Read moreWe were a family of 7, so we got to taste a lot of different dishes.
I had the Cream of Roasted Cauliflower and the Grilled Spicy Sweet Potato. OMG! Every bite was a delight. Nicely spiced, even a meat eater would enjoy these dishes.
DH had the Three-Bean Chili and Saffron-Infused Pan-Seared Savory Corn Cake. I will never look at corn cakes the same way again. This one had a crunchy crust and a moist interior, was perfectly spiced and seared, on a bed of kale, with pico de gallo, and some awesome sauces.
The others had Chickpea & Three-Bean Stew, Kale & Quinoa salad, Spicy BBQ Sweet Potato sandwich, and Tomato & Basil Soup. They were all without fail deliciously prepared.
The meal was so good that DH and I came back the next night by ourselves for more of the good stuff. We ended sharing an applecake for dessert.
We will be back soon!
Pros: Fantastic food, large portions, Water bottles were constantly refilled, Great staff
Cons: no Cons

One of the best...ever - Edit
I have been vegan for over 15 years, and in an ironic twist, I don't usually like vegetables. But Vegetable made me a believer. Without resorting to processed vegetarian meats, they have created some of the most memorable dishes I've *ever* had in Los Angeles. The mushrooms are quite simply the best I've ever had. I've never seen brussels sprouts prepared so beautifully. Best tomato basil soup ever. The list goes on and on; this is a menu that rewards you for exploring it. One caveat: it is a bit pricey, but completely worth it! (Note: patio is dog-friendly)

Delicious plant-based comfort food - Edit
Excellent plant-based restaurant with an incredible selection of gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and raw comfort-food dishes. I absolutely enjoyed the spicy sweet potatoes, the jicama ceviche, the butternut squash toast (delicious garlic flavor) and the pumpkin pie (avocado based and coconut cream on top, the best ever!). My trip all the way to Studio City was totally worth after I had lunch in this place. They have a good selection of coffees and fresh coconuts!

Really Good - Edit
What a great name, I'm sure they get lots of meat eaters lining out the door...haha.
Read moreBut seriously, this place was really good! I went here for lunch on my birthday. The food is pretty pricey. The service wasn't so great the day I came, seemed like they had one chick taking all the orders for the small restaurant. But she was really nice.
It reminded me a lot of Sun Cafe.
Pros: Really good food, All Vegan
Cons: Expensive

Bland Food, Small Plates - Edit
The food is too bland for me, and I am not crazy about ordering a bunch of little plates and hoping we ordered enough. The waiter was friendly and helpful. It is strange that a moderately expensive restaurant does not serve alcohol.

Delicious - Edit
We finally stopped into Vegetable as we had a Blackboard Eats discount code and wish we'd come sooner. The décor has definitely changed since Sun Café, but it was very nice and cool. The service was lovely as well, especially since we indicated that we were in a hurry. The menu is almost all vegan. It's disappointing that there are any non-vegan items at all as it's so few and they come with vegan optional anyways. Please go all vegan! We ordered the ceviche, mac and cheese, truffle risotto and parfait. They were all excellent, particularly the mac and cheese. We definitely plan on going again soon.

Excellent food and atmosphere! - Edit
Great Food! We tried several items and everything was excellent. Our favorites were the brussel sprouts, cheesy potatoes, and mac n cheese. The brownie sundae and watermelon lemonade we also wonderful. The best was the whole Thai young coconut as a drink and you get to scoop out the meat for dessert or appetizer! Loved it! Very relaxing dining room, classic jazz music was not to loud.

Vegetable is a must for anyone! - Edit
Our family discovered this awesome place, a few months back and make it in at least once a week now. The best gluten free choices and taste fantastic! The food is beautifully prepared and presented, but still has a very down to earth vibe. The atmosphere is comfortable but classy. The music is truly in the background and is always fun classic jazz like Louie Armstrong, it's relaxing and not loud or stressful. The staff is perfectly attentive but allows you to enjoy in your own space, they know the menu and are happy to serve you. The Mac and Cheese is one of our favorites, as well as the lasagne, the salads are unique and wonderful. We typically order family style and everyone shares from the various plates. This is great for a date night or a group of friends that want delicious, healthy and fun food! The desserts are truly fantastic, the peanut butter vegan ice cream is the best EVER! Please support this amazing new restaurant!

Mouth-watering Food in Quaint Atmosphere - Edit
I finally checked this new place out, and I'm so happy I did! It took over Sun Cafe's old place, and while the menu is not as extensive as Sun Cafe's, the food was just as amazing, and the new decor gives the restaurant a quaint, fun atmosphere. Almost everything is vegan or can be made vegan. The food was amazing, and I will definitely be returning!
