Great effort, but dry paczki

I ordered different paczki for Fat Thursday and they were a bit dry and did not have enough chocolate nor rose marmalade filing.

They offered a great variety of paczki which was great (vegan, gluten free, sugar free) but the final result could have been better.

Hip & Cool

A bit difficult to find if you don't know Warsaw. Chmielna is an easy street to find just off Nowy Swiat but 9A is actually at the back of Chmielna behind block 9 through an alley way next to the piano bar. I missed it the first time and ended up at a pseudo vegetarian Chinese at 13 Chmielna. It's very bright and garish on the outside, a little more traditional in the inside but pokey and dingey. Very student orienated and kind of homely. There is a daily buffet and food is served til about 9pm. The food is quite traditional with dumplings, potato cakes and pastas all of a very good standard with plenty of vegan options. It's great chilling out on the comfortable but well worn sofas at the windows. A super spot to relax and watch the world go by outside.

Pros: cool, cheap, funky raised seating

Cons: pokey in parts

Trendy cafe-bar tucked away nicely

We wanted to go out for dinner and drinks here on our recent visit to Warsaw. We had the address but couldn't find it for 20 minutes or so! You have to go into the courtyard next door (#10?) and to the left in order to find it.

It was a Friday night and the place was quite busy (around 19:30) but we managed to find somewhere to sit. We went to the bar to order food and although the menu wasn't in English, the bar staff helped us to identify some vegan soup so we ordered that.

By the time a friend arrived (he spoke Polish luckily!) and we wanted to order mains, the bar staff told us the kitchen was shut! We should have read the description properly on HappyCow. Luckily there were some pastries that they were able to heat up for us. They weren't spectacular but they were nice enough.

The drinks were also quite interesting, including the 'mulled beer', and it seemed most people were there to drink anyway.

Overall we enjoyed it but we would recommend coming earlier if you intent to eat a proper meal.

Pros: Centrally located, Great bar atmosphere

Cons: Kitchen shuts at 8 :-(

Awesome and funky cafe bar

A really awesome space with a relaxed, artistic and counter-cultural feel. The vegan and gluten-free options are clearly marked. The food is simple, tasty and good value. We went twice and had a salad, lentil soup, veggie pakora, broccoli soup and a stir-fry. The pakora were a special stand-out. A great place to hang out and have a drink. There's also dancing upstairs. The workers were happy to help in English, and there was an English version of the menu.

Pros: Ambiance - great place to chill, Tasty food

Good choice

Cozy and small place, looks and feels more like a cafe than a 'real' restaurant. It has a nice alternative, student atmosphere to it. Almost all the dishes are vegan, but for a strange reason some of their dishes have regular cheese in them (altough vegan option is available mostly).
We tried the daily lunch menu, the vegan shaslik and the spicy pasta. Those were all great and tasted wonderful for a very reasonable price (59zl including drinks). The staff is very friendly and helpful on top of that! Had no problems finding the place, there's a sign indicating where to enter when you are walking on ul. Chmielna.
Rating it 'only' 4 out of 5 because of not being completely vegan. Normally that doesn't bother me but I saw some brochures on veganism laying there, and since they have almost everything vegan I really wonder why they still use regular cheese.

Pros: really good price/quality, friendly staff, good atmosphere

Cons: cheese in some dishes
