Decent

I love Indian food and was excited to try this place, but with alllll the other Indian options in the Triangle, I’m not sure I’ll be back.
- pakoras were different than others i’ve had, they had a much plainer breading and were very pale in color. in two of our pakoras, there was no veggie at all — must have fallen out in the fryer?
- papadum were also a bit different, kind of a shrimp cracker texture instead of the more grainy style i’m used to, the type with bits of cracked pepper in it. it also had a mildly fishy aftertaste which bothered me
- no onion chutney! i was surprised
- rice was very oily
- mysore masala dosa and veggie biryani were good

i recommend getting takeout instead of dine-in because the lighting inside is garish, the booth seating feels like a boxspring, and the decor in general is lacking.

Pros: well-labeled menu , lots of options

Cons: subpar dine-in experience, some food let-downs

A little gem

In an area with an abundance of Indian restaurants this place sticks out as one of the best. Very good flavor, unique dishes, and alot of different choices that are clearly marked vegan. I had the potatoe bonda with the cilantro mint sauce, onion dosa, Indian Chinese noodles. The spice and flavor was on point, I will definitely order again when I come for business frequently. I did get takeout not dine in and I will say the place didn't look overly inviting to dine in.

Pros: Alot of options clearly marked vegan, Fast

Cons: More of a takeout place

Authentic S Indian!

Had a thali platter, ordered it all vegan. I found the food was super salty. No way to fix that except to request that the chef cut the salt in half when prepping for the day. The manager stopped by all tables (most filled by people from India) who loved their dishes (I heard their response) so maybe they’re used to highly salted dishes. I guess I misunderstood the menu offerings, telling server I wanted dosa instead of the regular breads offered but it didn’t come w/my order so I had to pay for a full dosa, in other words I had to order 2 entrees to get dosa! Crazy. I won’t be going back when I come to Raleigh again.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice presentation, Full menu

Cons: Too salty!!, No option to sub out my thali bread w/dosa, Pricey for Indian cuisine

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Vegan dosai FTW! I noticed that several items that are typically vegan such as Chana masala are not labeled vegan on the online menu so I am curious about this.

Very good!

My (vegan) husband and I ordered here last night while staying in Durban (we are from So Cal), and it was all very good! The dishes were all spicy, which we love!

We got bhatura, a fried eggplant dish, and vegetable uthappam!

Pros: Tasty, well priced, good portions, If you don’t like spicy, you may not like this

Best Indian cuisine

This is the best Indian cuisine I’ve ever had. It’s spicy, but not overly. I got the appetizer platter and it definitely did not disappoint. Would highly recommend this place if you enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.

So flavorful

I found the online menu difficult to navigate (items not clearly marked as vegan) but I came and ate on their outdoor covered patio and their menu was very clearly marked with a ton of vegan options. So refreshing to look through with confidence and it was delicious to boot! Highly recommend!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , In-person menu clearly labeled

Cons: Online menu not labeled

Udupi-Great Vegan Option

Ate here once and thoroughly enjoyed it. Vibe is very family oriented which is a nice perk. Service level is very high and staff were great about pointing out what had dairy.

Only had one buffet, but the everything was delicious and better than generic chana masala or aloo gobhi.

Pros: Number of options, Service and vibe, Quality of food

Cons: Not much vegan dessert

Great way to try a new type of food

So Good! A great way to try multiple Indian dishes if you've had limited opportunities to try them. So much flavor and so many spices used! Some dishes may be spicy to anyone not accustomed to them. Take small portions at first them go back for what you like. Many vegan options

Great South Indian Food

One of my favorite restaurants in the area both for their lunch buffet and excellent full menu in the evening. Spicy, flavorful and always a nice place to visit-whether in a group, or by yourself.

Pros: Good value, friendly staff

Good Buffet

I've been to Udupi many times, in groups, pairs, and on my own. I've learned that it's best to just get the buffet, particularly if you like your food spicy, because no matter how spicy you tell the waiters you want it, they'll give you no spice at all. The buffet, however, has nice, spicy, authentic, vegetarian Indian food. Lots of options for vegans as well. If you do get the buffet, the waiters will also bring delicious, crispy, potato-filled Dosas to the table, as many as you want, at no extra charge.

Pros: Good buffet, All vegetarian, Lots of vegan options

Cons: Menu ordering not great

South Indian!

I love South Indian so of course I love this restaurant. Though it is not the best South Indian food I've ever had it is a great find for Cary.

Pros: South Indian, Dosa

good south indian food

Everyone loves Udipi here lol. It really is a wonderful place.

The staff is pleasant, food is good. And their buffet is the best.

Many vegan options, and they can make a few dishes with no garlic, mushroom and/or onion.

Try their version of Chinese fried rice, and their Masala Dosa.

And if you are into Indian drinks, I love their Falooda drink, and Badam(almond) Milkshake.

Pros: pleasant inside, friendly staff, yummy food, great prices

Cons: dont really customize dishes

A special treat!

My boyfriend and I love this place. A great date place too. The coconut chutney is delicious with the masala dosa, but everything we've had is good. It's nice to get non-traditional Indian food. Also, the service is always good.

Pros: yummy!, good service, nice atmosphere

Cons: kinda remote for Durham
