This place could use a new review. Just ate here for the first time since graduating five years ago, when I went weekly as an omnivore, and it still rocks. First off, most of their produce is either grown at the university or comes from the region. They have an extensive menu which varies but tends to be vegan and gluten free (the baked goods less so). Most things are around $5-6; soups, salads, wraps, bowls, etc. Flavours are bold and well executed. You can get a year membership which saves you a good percentage on all food purchases and I believe also puts you into the collective somehow. And new to me, students can now use their meal plan money here! It's also a great space to hang out and exist.
The Seasoned Spoon is a great place to eat at and hang out when you're in Trent or even Peterborough. The food is amazing; all vegetarian/vegan-friendly food and very creative dishes. Menu items are inexpensive; $6 can get you a good meal. The staff, volunteers and members of the community are very friendly which creates a fantastic environment in the cafe. There are plugs so you can take your laptop and work there; it's quiet and relaxed with tasteful music. If you enjoy eating here frequently, I strongly recommend becoming a member, as you get a discount on your meals. Keep an eye out for the events that are hosted in The Seasoned Spoon; you won't regret attending!
All in all, The Seasoned Spoon is the one place I liked the most while I was at Trent and encourage everyone who gets the opportunity to visit and support them!
