The Flying Monkey is a vegetarian and vegan cafe occupying the same site that its predecessor, Gomatis, did, a stone's throw from the cathedral housing the impressive Mappa Mundi and chained library.
I called in here for lunch whilst visiting Hereford and am already looking forward to a return visit. Lovely interior and chilled atmosphere. There were numerous vegan options on offer and on the advice of the friendly proprietor, I went for the fishless fish with two salads. Everything I had was fresh and tasty. The fishless fish was delicious and the accompanying salads were very tasty too and definitely not your run of the mill salads that are often served up. The salad wth almonds was particularly good. The portion size was just right too. My fellow dining partner just wanted a cheese sandwich, which was not on the menu but they were happy to oblige.
Also enjoyed a great soy latte. No room for desserts but there were vegan chocolate truffles available. I got a carryout for later that day: baked on premises bread rolls with hoummous and salad and these were delicious too. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. If you're in Hereford, a must visit!Pros: tasty vegan options, atmosphere, friendly staff
