They had me at clearly marked vegan items; the only restaurant on Clematis to have such markings. Also marked on the menu, vegetarian items, items with nuts, and gluten free items. Once you get a handle on the menu, you chose if you want a salad, wrap, or bowl with hummus or falafel as the "base" and then add toppings.
Or you can opt for the more extravagant platter option. I, of course, splurged by ordering the "platter" of "extras" so that I could try as much food as possible. I really enjoyed the mhamara, which was not very spicy but was very flavorful. Their hummus is fresh and tastes house made and preservative free. They offer various hummus flavors by adding different sauces to the hummus such as roasted red peppers. My favorite was the cilantro and jalapeno hummus. I also really enjoyed the Mediterranean guacamole. The quinoa salad was a bit bland, but a healthy and filling option for the platter. If you order 4 extras, you have to order a side of pita or pita chips also or you will be eating those spreads with a fork; so the platter can definitely be a pricey option for some hummus. However, it's good, and I left feeling like I had a good, clean, healthy meal.
The fiance ordered the falafel wrap which was boring, even with hot sauce. It's vegan, but nothing special. There are better falafel wraps available in the downtown area.
The restaurant offers hummus, mharmara, and other sides in a to-go case also. Also available are some bags of organic ingredients like chickpeas and red lentils, dried spirulina powder, and maca powder. The interior is modern and clean. The seating space is small but comfortable. Fresh herbs adorn the tables in natural clay pots.
