Fantastic Food in Humble Settings

5 Posted on 08 / 17 / 2014

Loved the meal we were served in this Indian Vegetarian restaurant that is mostly vegan also (ask your waiter as it's not really that clear from the menu). Honestly, some of the best Indian we've been served despite the fact that the place was nearly empty (8:30 on a Saturday night). The place is a little shabby, and the menu is filled with typos and cross-outs. Forget all that - the food is great! We ordered the Swagath Cut Mirchi, Mulligatawny Soup, Channa Palak Potato Dry, and Pulkas / Chapathi Oil-free pan fried whole wheat bread. Everything was superb including the rice which was perfectly cooked - soft and fluffy. The owner was very nice and showed us some upcoming specials that sounded great including Baby Corn Manchurian. Located in a small shopping center with lots of free parking, this place is worth finding. We'll definitely be returning the 40 mile drive. Whatever the issues, Swagath gets 5 stars for delicious food.

Pros: All Vegetarian, Vegan Friendly, DELICIOUS
Cons: a little shabby, many items crossed out on menu

One of the better Indian. buffet places in the area. The flavor can be hit or miss at times, but overall a really good buffet. Just be aware that tey close from 3-5 or 5.30.

Pros: Selection, Daal, Paper masala dosa
Cons: Oily

New to Indian - Great Experience

4 Posted on 08 / 31 / 2011

Took my wife to Swagath on a bit of a whim not really knowing what to expect. I found the menu a bit overwhelming and just made a few random selections with some help from the waiter. Food was excellent and perfect proportions.

Found it somewhat encouraging that the only others in the restaurant (light traffic on Tuesday night apparently) were folks who appeared to be of Indian decent (we are not).

We would certainly go back.

Pros: diverse choices, excellent food, friendly
Cons: overwhelming if new to Indian food

Pretty good

Swagath has a fairly nice selection of Indian food. It is all vegetarian, but not all Vegan. They do seem to be pretty accommodating as far as letting you know what has ghee or milk, and don't seem to mind not using them when possible. It would be better if they labeled what was vegan and what was just vegetarian.

Pros: All vegetarian, Friendly staff, Inexpensive
Cons: Not 100% vegan, Isolated location, Menu doesn't make vegan options clear
