Swank n’ tasty!

Coerced the spawn to take me here while In town a night before my birthday. The space is lovely, tho surprisingly loud for a small Monday night crowd.

Had a great time, but we did fight over the Brussels sprouts. They were amazing and I was reminded how much I love dukkah spice.

The entrees were great too and I enjoyed both the whiskey options and the entertaining descriptions.

Dessert was good as well. Waiter said current menu is entirely vegan.

Pros: Brussels! Spawn said best she’s ever had. , Atmosphere! Would be a great date space. , Great whiskey menu, if that’s your thing.

Cons: Not inexpensive, but worth it, Smashed cucumbers weren’t up to par w/ other items

Yes!

Beautiful building with fancy food and drinks. They said the menu (at least at the time) was all vegan, as well as the bar, with the exception of honey. Really good brussel sprouts. I would love to try more.

Cons: Street parking

Good, but not great

A whiskey focused bar with vegan food is my jam (or should be). Small batch didn't quite meet or exceed my expectations. The falafel burger didn't quite read as a falafel (too chewy), the lion's mane dish was more of a crab cake, and the bread pudding was more bread than pudding (i.e. it was dry). I didn't finish my dessert, which is almost unheard of.

The cocktails were decent, but not amazing.

Cons: Expensive for what they delivered

10/10- Definitely worth the drive!

We recently traveled to Small Batch from Indiana. It was excellent. Highly recommend it. The food was incredible and the waitstaff was super friendly and very helpful. We’ll definitely be traveling back just to visit this restaurant!

I had an Asian dish with tofu and veggies that were very well seasoned. My husband had some pasta with eggplant. The sauce complimented the noodles well, the eggplant was incredible. Never had eggplant prepared the way they did. It was very good!

Only regret is not being able to come back a second time!

Unforgettable Lion's Mane Mushrooms

Excellent, upscale date spot with some of the best fancy vegan options I've seen. I've never had Lion's Mane mushrooms before, and the way they prepared it was perfectly soft and crumbly. It had a great seafood taste similar to something like lobster and I haven't had anything like it since going vegan. The brussel sprouts and sundae was absolutely amazing as well.

Fantastic Fine Dining Date Night Spot!

This place is quite fancy and romantic. They had nice ambient lighting and an upstairs seating area. The food was absolutely delicious and most of the menu is vegan (only 2 dishes had cheese). My date and I split the Lion's Mane fare, Brussels Sprouts small fare, and a Sundae. The whole experience was so wonderful. The only con is the portion sizes are quite small! I would still highly recommend though. It's the perfect place to go on a date.

Pros: Lots of Vegan Options, Delicious, Romantic

Cons: Pricey, Small Portions

Whiskey discovery

The menu is predominantly vegan with two vegetarian dishes which the server told us about. I had the white bean appetizer, green fried rice and crème brûlée. All were good. My partner had the schnitzel. Also good if you have a craving for schnitzel. Whiskey tasting also great. Would definitely recommend this place for a fun evening.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Vegan crème brûlée

Great place!

Be aware that this is a vegetarian restaurant and not everything is vegan. They use cheese in some of their dishes.

The place is amazing though!

Nothing Special

Things have ranged from just ok to bad. For example, the brownie I had was tragic. The GF pancakes were ok. They were missing that buttery magic that pancakes are supposed to have (like at Treehouse). The menu has changed so I would be willing to give them another try. Hopefully, they’ve improved the taste and quality.

Pros: Beautiful restaurant space

Cons: Not inexpensive

100% vegan and almost entirely gluten-free!

We are traveling to see family and Dan’s nephew took us here for dinner. Wow. The whiskey and mixed drinks were great, but the food was the star attraction. We started either the miso white bean dip and the tempura cauliflower. Then Dan had them substitute rice noodles for the bucatini pasta and had it covered with a sage and pumpkin seed pesto. I had the Country Captain with chickpeas, cauliflower, etc. Divine! Only wished I had room for dessert at the end.

Pros: Lots of creative vegan dishes, Nice atmosphere, Attentive waitstaff

This place really went above and beyond expectations. The entrees were HUGE and super duper flavorful and creative. The drinks were yummy. Dessert was massive and delicious as well. Such a cute place, I hope to get back out here again.

Pros: 99% of the items are already vegan , Huge portions, Flavorful & creative dishes

Everything is Vegan! Even their desserts. What a wonderful evening of food and drinks.

Although I read Small Batch was “vegan options” it turns out, everything (even this delicious Chocolate S’Mores Brownie Dessert) is vegan. If you’re looking for something more relaxing and not just a quick diner experience when it comes to vegan dine-out, Small Batch is the place.

As if the food wasn’t enough, their amazing selection and knowledge of bourbons and specialty drinks, is icing (Or shall I say Aquafaba) on the vegan brownie :-)

Pros: All Vegan, So many amazing food options, Staff was very knowledgeable

I wonder why they are listed here on HC as vegetarian instead of vegan. There must be something non-vegan.

Hey all, update: I went back recently and they switched up the menu quite a bit actually. So I'm not sure what happened but this time my vegan friendly options were limited.

Best meal I had in St Louis

I didn't know what to expect with the Kibbeh, but it was so delicious and I wish I could make something similar now that I have returned home. The vegan cheesecake was also sooo creamy and good.

Pros: good food!, Unique menu different then common vegan menus

Cons: price

Wonderful

What a lovely dining experience. Great food, great drinks, great service. Prices are fairly standard for a nice meal out in St Louis. Almost everything can be made vegan and servers ask up front and tell you what can’t be. You’ll want to try a few dishes, so go with someone and share! We got two small plates, a small soup, and one main for two people and were too full for dessert (probably could’ve skipped the soup, but it was light and tasty so worth it). We each also had two of their incredibly inventive cocktails!

Go. Seriously!

Outstanding and a MUST-DO in St. Louis, whether you are vegetarian or not. I've been to a lot of restaurants in my 62 years (veg and non-veg) and this place rises to the top of my faves. The menu is eclectic and crowd-pleasing and the food is ridiculously delicious. If I didn't live in San Francisco, I'd be here often. And it doesn't hurt that it has one of the most creative adult drinks menus ever. Go. Seriously.

Pros: Amazing menu matched by flavors of amazing meals, Fantastic adult-beverage list, Super nice service

Cons: It is 1,500 miles away from where I live.

Nice night out

Small batch has GREAT food with very large portions. I had the buffalo cauliflower appetizer, as well as the tacos (veganized). My friend got the poutine and the pad thai. The tacos were basically just beans and sliced fried avocado with raw cabbage on top. They were okay, but I wouldn't get them again. The buffalo cauliflower was delicious, but the pad thai was the star -- baked tofu and a good selection of green veggies mixed into the noodles, with a really lovely sauce. My friend said the poutine was the best she had ever had. Also, if whisky is your thing, they have SO many kinds to choose from!!

Pros: Large portions, Many vegan options

Cons: $$$, Not many vegan desserts

Find all the stl vegan date nighters here

Almost all dishes can be made vegan upon request. Food and drinks are good.

Terrible service though. They almost always have us seated for 10-20 min. Before anyone bothers to bring you water or take your order so go prepared to wait.

Pros: Late night

Cons: Bad service

Urbane and Delicious

I was passing through on my way back to Cincinnati, and this was one of the only veg places still open after 9 on a Monday, so I went for it almost by default.

I’m glad I did.

This is a nice place. The interior is very well decorated, with a lot of ambiance.

More importantly, the two dishes I tried were excellent. Just a really high food quality. I started with the cauliflower wings. They were deep fried, and when combined with vegan ranch or honey mustard, they took on more of the flavor of a hush puppy than a chicken wing. Still, they were really good.

For a main course I had the Pad Thai, and it’s easily the most flavorful, nuanced Pad Thai I’ve ever had. There was just so much depth to it. If you’re used to a sweeter Pad Thai, as I was, you may be disappointed, as this is a more savory take on the dish, but the quality of it made up for any lack of sweetness.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the portion sizes are fair, if not generous. It’s pricey by Midwestern standards but would be a bargain on the west coast.

My only frustration was that, perhaps because it was late, the bartender who was serving me was quite preoccupied with doing her closing duties and getting out of there. I’m fairly chill about service, but her head was somewhere else completely, and I struggled to get her attention when I actually needed something.

Overall just really refined, quality food that’s mostly vegan.

Pros: High quality, All entrees can be made vegan, Delicious

Pros: rotating menu, Asian themed food, Art Deco styled restaurant

Cons: wish it was all vegan
