Est. 2015, a little vegetarian cafe serving toasties, shakes, salad, coffee, tea, and sweets. After the cafe closes, the brewers bar opens at 6pm. SEP 2016 REPORTED SHUT.
Sitting here in the Secret handshake using their wifi and munching on a fine sheer potato and kale salad (that has no kale cos they ran out at 3pm!!) I am faced with a dilemma . This place is undoubtedly part of the hipster gentrification wave flooding this area of formerly poor East London. But I quite like this place. It's imaginative decor and world music might on another day wind me up. Someone invested big time in making this place nice! The toilet is tiny twee and lovely, it even has a dyson air hand blaster dryer thing!
The choc and salt caramel shake I ordered is ridiculously sweet, and tasty. But the best thing about it is the steel glass and steel straw you get to suck it up from? Different and cool.
Thee menu is not extensive and some tempting things are not vegan , always a shame! But there,s enough to tempt me back again with friends to see what they think.
Who,d have thought that this spot on Shakewell lane, that used to be the reserve of prostitutes and dealers is now home to a bijou bistro that would be at home in Glastonbury or Totnes! Still this is a change I am in favour of.
A Fancy salad and a sweet shake for £10.50, that,s moderate for London prices. I,ll be back. :)
This place is amazing! The toasties are super delicious (3 vegan options) and smoothies are amazing too (all vegan)! I didn't like the coffee (I had a latte with almond milk), though, it had a floury texture. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and price is okay, too. I will definitely come back!
Their shakes are to die for. The Chocolate Salted Caramel is the best thing I've ever had, and the Mango Lassi is amazing as well. All vegan woho! Their toasties are also really good, my favourite is the Avo one and the Kimchi one. Happy staff and reasonable prices! Def one of my favourite places
