Time left its mark

Posted on 07 / 25 / 2015

When I visited Tampere in 2011 and 2012, Runsaudensarvi (then still located in Kauppakatu) was one of the best organic food stores I knew, with an excellent range of options for vegans and very nice and helpful staff. Not only the location has changed since then. There are not many groceries left in the new store. The selection of vegan alternatives for meat and cheese are still decent, but everything else is far away from its former glory. Obviously, the trendier Ruohonjuuri is now attracting the crowds. It seems they are trying to bear themselves bravely by shifting more towards non-food products. Nevertheless, I left the store with quite a sad feeling.

Pros: long-established, decent selection of non-food items
Cons: pitted assortment of goods

Good selection

No fresh stuff but great selection of dried stuff, vegan staples and pretty much everything you need. (You can pick your fruit and veg in the supermarket opposite : )

Pros: plenty of choice, reasonably priced
Cons: no fruit and veg
