Rumors Vegetarian Cafe and Bar

Overall rating: 2.5 stars 2 Reviews
Serves meat, veg options available. Small restaurant from the Woburn Bay area that had relocated to a takeaway hut outside St Georges University among a group of takeaways which also includes a smoothie/juice bar. To find it follow the signs to the True Blue Resort area (near airport), south of St. Georges, and then to the university. It is located on the corner opposite the small animal hospital of the university. Although it is called a vegetarian cafe, like almost all veggie places in the Caribbean, it also offers fish. I thought it was a veggie restaurant but the first thing they said to me on arriving was "sorry! no meat today, only veggie options, hope that's ok..."
So it's no longer entirely veggie. But it was the first menu I had seen in the caribbean with such a variety of veggie food! I stood over the menu for ages deciding.

The food took quite a while considering we were the only customers, and when it was served it was in styrofoam takeaway containers inside brown paper bags even though we were sitting on the tables in front.
Portions were quite small too, compared to what you generally get in grenada for the same price but it was delicious.

If you're going to the area near the university it's worth going, but probably not good enough to go out of your way to get to like I did.

Pros: yummy, wide range of food, plenty of vegan options
Cons: small portions, took a long time to arrive, lots of styrofoam & packaging

Veggie cafe / take-away

Despite having the climate to grow delicious veggies, the Caribbean isn't an easy place to be veggie - unless you are one of those who says "oh, yeah, I also eat fish"!
Going self-catering is our best advice to vegans or veggies heading to Grenada.
Anyhway, this cafe had quite a lot of fish dishes, which was a shame because their Caribbean veggie snacks such as roti stuffed with veggie curry or pita bread with chick pea and tofu curry were very nice and a reaonable price.

Pros: good flavoursome food, easy to find
Cons: fish dishes, seating by road to uni
