This cafe is attached to a little yoga house on a neighborhood type street. The seating is outdoor garden style and very sweet. My husband and I tried two dishes off the menu which is small as it is seasonal and depends on ingredients found locally, which is awesome. The food was tasty for the most part. It wasn't spectacular and to add to that it was in my opinion over priced. I understand that fresh ingredients mean higher cost, but when it feels like the dish has been marked up way to high for the type of ingredients and portion, I just can't appreciate it.

As always check it out for yourself if you're in town!

Pros: good food, sweet garden seating
Cons: small portions, over priced

This beautiful cafe is serving fresh, delicious and creative fare. It is a special place and is just right for a healthy, satisfying lunch with a friend. Plan extra time to sit and enjoy being outside!

Pros: local ingredients, friendly chef, intimate
Cons: slower than some

The kale/fennel juice was awesome, but small considering the price. The curry lentil soup was tasty, but low on lentils/protein. We had a salad as well, but would have liked to have had more considering the price, and the fact that we didn't purchase the eggs it normally comes with. Considering the soup portion/content perhaps this is how they roll. Pleasant and nice nonetheless.

Pros: tasty, made to order?
Cons: slow?, small portions

The Best food in slo

Roxanne's Cafe is the epitome of pure food, made with love and fresh local ingredients. Hands down the best place to eat in slo! She has something for everyone, even raw vegans :). No discrimination here! Her sandwiches are absolutely delectable, and change weekly, depending on what she finds locally! She is inspired by the local, fresh, organic farmers in town and what a beautiful thing she has created! Her "everything but the kitchen sink salad" is the best salad I have ever had! Vegan baked goods are immaculate. The girls are always having a good time in the kitchen, with a lot of love and positive vibration going into your food. Always good music! This place can't be beat!

Pros: great food, great music, great people

Lovely place

I had read about this place on happycow and decided to stop in on my way from San Francisco to Los Angeles a few months back. Here's my Roxanne's Cafe review.

Roxanne is the owner and chef who takes your order and brings your food to your table, and she does it with a welcoming smile. My husband and I shared the avocado citrus salad (quinoa, sunflower seeds, orange slices, avocado), a beet juice, and a carrot-kale juice. Everything was delicious.

The space is just outside of Smiling Dog Yoga, in a small, tranquil courtyard with some plants and has a mellow, natural feel.

Pros: healthy, delicious, friendly
Cons: limited hours

Soul Food

If you are looking for soul food in San Luis Obispo, look no further than Roxanne's Cafe. The well-prepared, attractively presented vegetarian fare served by the sunny proprietor, Roxanne, on the sunny patio at Smiling Dog Yoga Studio will feed your soul at its deepest level. Today's menu included a Fried Egg Sandwich, Miso Almond Sandwich, Kitchen Sink Salad (everything but the kitchen sink!), Romaine Boats and a hearty vegetable lentil soup, with parmesan. A variety of beverages included espresso, coconut water, kombucha, carrot ginger juice and a selection of hot teas. For dessert, lavender cacao truffles rolled in salted almonds. Considering Roxanne does her best to offer locally-sourced ingredients - often acquired at farmer's markets the day they are used - and considering the attractive setting in which the meal is served - potted succulents on round, blue-tiled table tops surrounded by hanging planters and larger, potted plants on the walled patio outside the entrance to the yogo studio - the experience of dining at Roxanne's is high quality in every way. It's a cozy place, with only six tables, so be sure to arrive early to ensure seating, and to allow time for a chat with the ever-beaming Roxanne, if she has a free moment.

Pros: High quality food, Attractive setting, Top-notch staff
Cons: Setting a challenge in rainy weather

An absolute gem!

This cafe was an awesome find! I've been there for lunch the past two days - the food was delicious. I had the Vegetable Lentil/Tempeh loaf (both times!!!) The staff is super friendly too. If you're in SLO, stop by for lunch.

Pros: Food, Staff, Food
Cons: The wind made outdoor eating uncomfortab, Only open for lunch
