Strange but not so bad

Part of a network of macrobiotic restaurants in Italy run by a macrobiotic cultural association. Cold green tea is served as part of the meal. Other drinks like barley cup are available, but no coffee. Strangely wine is available. The set meal is extremely cheap and consists of a huge plate of food - beans in a savory sauce, steamed cabbage & brown rice. Nothing gourmet about this but good solid wholefood. There were wholemeal, sugar-free vegan cakes for dessert. Before you eat you pay a one-off fee of €5 to join the cultural association for which you will need ID. You get a membership card which entitles you to eat at any of the associations' restaurants worldwide. Restaurant has a mini-market with foods like seitan & tofu alongside organic vegan wines. Cash only. Open Mon-Sat 12-3pm, 7:30-9.30pm, closed Sun.

Pros: Big portions, Cheap, Big dining room

Cons: Not much choice
