Located just outside of St. Louis, this is a vegetarian Indian cuisine restaurant. Offers a daily lunch buffet (except Monday). Has a banquet hall available. Confirmed closed, Aug 2014.
I was a little bit disappointed in the food at Raj's Rasoi. I've been for both the lunch buffet and dinner (menu), and while it's good, it's also a little bland for my taste. I don't love super spicy food, but Raj's is just lacking something. Also, the decor could use some sprucing up, it's pretty run down inside.
Raj's Rasoi is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in STL. There are so many vegan options and the owner is always willing to accommodate and make a dish vegan, if possible, at your request. They are also very helpful with identifying which items are already vegan. There is a daily lunch buffet, which usually has several vegan options. My favorites are the veggie samosa, veg pakora, veggie burgers (ask them to remove the cheese and the chutney (green) sauce for vegan), aloo saag (asked to be made vegan), bhindi masala, and the dosas. The restaurant has expanded and now has another side to accommodate large parties. If you're in STL, you must try Raj's Rasoi!
(I previously wrote a review; not sure where it went.)
Raj gives you the family atmosphere and great Indian food at the same time. His wife is a wonderful baker and you can order custom birthday/wedding/cupcakes from her. Its a bit of a drive, but its one of the best places in town for Indian food!
It's a little hard to find (or maybe I'm just directionally challenged), but once you get there, it's fantastic. The owner was very friendly, the service was attentive and fast, and they project Indian music videos and Bollywood movies on the wall some evenings. It is not 100% vegan, but they are extremely accommodating if you are--all dishes are clearly marked, and vegan options exist for many of the dishes if you ask. They're also very clear on heat level--if you like your food super hot, you've got it; if not (like me), they can dial it down for you.
The samosas are lovely, the food is generally brilliant and very reasonably priced. I just saw that Raj's Rasoi had no reviews and wanted to remedy the situation.
