In the past, macrobiotic food to me has either been tasteless or so over spiced that I'm left with indigestion afterwards. This was neither, it was fantastic. My friend suggested it to me, because she is a member and comes here regularly anytime she comes into Zagreb. I went once, and then had to come back the next day and take food with me to go for the plane too. I could not even imagine living next to a restaurant like this, because I would be there every day.
First of all, the food is inspired by Croatian flavors and cooking and uses local and seasonal produce. The food is lightly salted and the flavors are impeccable. The servings are ample and filling - I would go for their daily meal which includes soup.
Coming to NY the day after I left, I nose dived to another macro restaurant because I wanted to replicate the experience, but the rice was hard and the flavors were meh. The rice here is just cooked perfectly... I could not describe it! Also, the lady who worked there was warm and kind and remembered me the next day I came back. She forgot to give me a side of seaweed which I had forgot the day before, and gave me a larger portion for free that day instead.
The only thing you should know is that the restaurant may be a little hard to find (even though its location is very central) - it is in a courtyard, and has a big yellow sign above the door that has PYR. Enter the door and then go to the second floor... you will not regret it!!!
(Ps.. my rating for this place is a 5... Happy cow doesn't allow me to rate this as more than a 4 because they do serve fish.. which is easy to avoid btw)Pros: unspeakably delicious, local and seasonal produce, friendly and warm owners
