Wonderful find in Takayama!

We had a delicious set dinner prepared by the two ladies who run the place! We were the only guests for dinner and felt like it was our own personal experience. We arrived 15 minutes early, they weren't quite ready, so they directed us to the coffee bar across the street and, unbeknownst to us, paid in advance for our coffee there!

Here's what you need to know - -

1. The place is tiny. Make reservations.
2. They close at 6pm. We had dinner at 5:30pm. It seems that Takayama closes early in general.
3. The food was delicious. Many more small tastings than other set meals we've had and a great mix of offerings.
4. The ladies take great pride in their restaurant and were so happy that we enjoyed!
5. As others have said, they don't speak English, but we communicated just fine.
6. At 4,000 yen per person for the full meal, it was surprisingly expensive.
7. We'd definitely go back!!

Enjoy!!

A quirky place

We enjoyed the vegan macrobiotic fare on offer- a lunch set or ramen. The two grannies serving were giggling throughout making the whole experience lighthearted and fun.

friendly simple and tasty

Very appreciated as apparently the only all vegan place in takayama. We had the basic set meal. As usual, I wanted more of everything especially the yummy fried gluten.

Great Ramen place

We came for lunch with a non Vegan friend and had a great meal for everyone.
The menu is very simple: four options are available, all Vegan Ramen. The black sesame one is recommended. It comes with tea and the two ladies working in the restaurant are very nice and friendly.

Friendly staff and good vegan food

We stumbled on this place while walking around Takayama around lunchtime.
Two different lunch options were available. The basic and the premium.
The basic is priced at 1000 yen and the premium at excellent value at 1320 yen.
The premium lunch set included a range of vegan small typical japanese dishes including Salad, Hoto noodle soup (the local noodle type), pickles as well as some desert thing that I have no idea what it was (but it was good!). The lunch came with a caffeine free coffee and tea.
The place is run by two older Japanese women who were incredibly friendly, and did not speak English. However, we all got by with pointing, hand gestures and the English menu.
There are also store goods available.

Overall the food was overall quite good. The noodle soup was the stand out item.
Well worth the wander, if in the area, particularly as it is the only fully vegan operation in the area as far as I could tell. I would visit again, however it is closed on Sundays and Mondays, the only remaining days I am here.

Pros: healthy food, local ingredients, local specialty noodles
