Loved this place - Edit
Had delicious stir fried mock-meat dishes here, as well as some steamed buns and pad Thai to take away. The flavours were great and the pad Thai was the best I’ve had in Thailand - love love love.

So good! - Edit
We loved the buffet and the dishes on the menu and came here a couple years ago once or twice and four times this time around. The grilled steak looking tofu(?) is perfection and so is cashew stir fry (the "meat" is incredible). We did not like 2 dishes - one that looks like minced meat (was very limey and had a spice we didn't like). The buffet was much cheaper and just as delicious.

Corner location with lots of Vfood action - Edit
Alot of choices pre made. Made to order soups and thai dishes, juices, soymilk, coconuts, and other drinks. Quick service. Authentic thai food. A little More expensive than non-tourist cities. Still good price: 260baht for two big soups and one plate of rice with three servings of food on top, and two small drinks.

Tastes basically the same as meat tom yum. Good pad Thai and an amazing Thai basil fried rice! They also speak Chinese here. They also sell vegetarian instant noodles, canned curry paste, faux meat floss, etc

Small portion and tasteless - Edit
We came here because of the good reviews but cannot really understand them. Food did not taste nice and the small portion was definitely not worth 100 baht ( extra 10baht for small rice). I had number 6 from the menu which was mainly plain broccoli with mushrooms and a few stripes of carrot.
Read moreMaybe the food from the buffet is better, but will not come back to try it.
However the staff was nice and understood a little English.

Will never go there again - Edit
The food we ordered was a big disappointment. First of all the portions were really small ( just some broccoli and a few mushrooms - costs 100 baht). The vegetables had absolutely no flavor. Same with the second dish, the vegetables came in a weird tomato sauce with maybe ketchup?! We went to the restaurant because of all the good reviews, but we can not understand them.

Best in Hat Yai - Edit
When I first went here nearly 20 years ago it was only one shop house unit. About ten years ago they expanded by taking over the next unit.
Read moreThe selection here is great and changes from day to day. There is one dish made with baby green vegetables (bok choy?) that I love.
There are also a lot of side dishes available apart from the pre-prepared curries e. g. sweetcorn fritters and different kinds of sausages.
There is also an extensive range of meals you can order (pictorial menu on the wall).
Pros: Great selection , Delicious food
Cons: A little bit more expensive than others

The best in town - Edit
We’ve been going here for years and have tried a few of the other options in town (when they are open) and for us this is the one. Clean, bright and plenty of seating. Helpful staff and a huge variety of food. Open all day too which is unusual for this type of restaurant. Highly recommended.

Delicious variety of food from buffet - Edit
We had been 'making do' with rice, vegetables and noodles but were craving real vegetarian/vegan food. Upon reading reviews here and realizing the restaurant was only a ten minute walk from our guesthouse, we headed out.
Read moreNum Heng was easy to find and, at 7 pm about half full - a couple of other travellers, a large family gathering and several individuals.
Some of the staff speak English and, as others have mentioned, we were offered free water.
There was an extensive menu, but we headed directly for the buffet. We had a choice of white or mixed rice and then were able to choose as we wished from the dozen or so dishes in the buffet. It was difficult deciding which items to choose as they all looked enticing.
The food was delicious - curried dishes, sautéed greens, mushrooms, some of what looked like tempeh and a variety of other flavours.
We enjoyed every mouthful and plan to return there for a late breakfast before leaving Hat Yai.
A great find for us and a definite recommendation for good food at a cheap price.
Pros: good value, friendly staff, great variety of dishes

Great selection - Edit
Cheerful lady gave me a portion of rice and then put portions of whatever I pointed at from the buffet on top. Turned out to be so delicious, especially the fake soy meats, that I decided to get another helping to take away for my train journey later - each meal was 70 baht which is OK. They also sell lovely little snacks if you want more train journey rations! Centrally located near the Odeon.

Really good! - Edit
Visited this restaurant a few months thanks to google maps (I haven't had the HappyCow app back then).
Read moreThis restaurant is fully vegan and specialises in Authentic Chinese Thai dishes.
We had about 15 dishes ranging from Glass noodles salad to stir fried petai beans, and they are all amazing!
The food are mostly spicy, most of them even had a handful of bird's eye chilli in it. So if you can't eat spicy food, do inform the staff.
All or most of the staff working here understands Southern Chinese dialects and Mandarin.
Pros: Amazing food, Affordable

Really Nice Food! - Edit
It is hard to find, closes at around 6pm, but is right on the corner of pracharom street, decorated yellow on the outside. Wasn't a menu per se, you go up and kind of choose which dishes you'd like and they pile your plate really high! They don't speak any English here which isn't too much of a problem. The mock meats are plentiful and really convincing.. almost too convincing!? Really nice, filling food though for a really really good price! I had a HUGE plate with 3 different mains on and a drink for 75 baht! Staff were smiley and im sure what i ate was vegan!

Liked it! - Edit
Honestly, I have no idea if what i ate was vegan or not. I went there because its listing on happy cow.

Nice friendly people.
Had a bit trouble finding it. It is a corner not far from the Marker in happy cow. But I van't set the marker right myself unfortunately. I asked in a hotel lobby nearby to find it and they knew about it when i mentioned "it's strictly vegetarian".
Would definitely go there again!
Pros: good food, nice people

Typical Chinese Vegetarian - Edit
I ate there once or twice. It was okay. I have grown quite tired of the Chinese style though. Oily or spicy or salty. I had fried pumpkin and it was okay but the rice sure didn't help. Dry and boring rice.

Great, bustling eatery - Edit
This is a lovely, large, lively cafeteria-style restaurant on a busy corner in town. You can choose from a buffet or a menu of about two dozen dishes made to order (the menu has big pictures on the wall and Thai descriptions available, but no English). I was hungry and so had two dishes: crispy mock-duck and a mushroom and broccoli stir-fry, and rice. It was all fresh and delicious and only cost 160 Bat. They also sell some vegan snacks and packaged goods to take-away.
