Mother's on the skids

The restaurant has steadily gotten worse over the years. I had the worst vegan burger of my life there. They now serve only half size tortillas. The Lemon Picatta sauce has gone from thick and creamy to watered down and tasteless. On a bad day the Pesto Pasta has enough oil to drive a diesel truck through Texas. Forget NOGO cuisine.
The store is locked into certain vendors that serve the desires of current management. At first glance the store seems well stocked until you shop there or ask for them to order you an item. When an item sells well and they run out, they see it as empty shelf space to stock the items that don't sell.
The juice bar is way too expensive and the deli has no edible vegan food.
I remember when Mother's was a vegetarian place. Now it is devolving into another Safeway. The different stores sell the same items at different prices.
I once looked in the back and saw that the Latino workers were leaving with the best produce, leaving only the left over picked through produce for the customers. This means that prime food goes to store workers, but our society's doctors, lawyers, business owners and well educated elite only get scraps and rejects. This is the upside down pyramid in action.
There are less and less organic things available over the years. This chain is in California but the bell peppers come from Israel and Holland. This is a typical carbon footprint of this store.
This store proves the before untested theory that Costa Mesa might be a genetic pool of devolving evolution throwing Darwin out the window.
