Authentic Mexican Food - Edit
Come in through the days and experience a traditional Mexican restaurant. Nothing sleek just what it would be like in Mexico. Though they have created a vegetarian menu which is easily substituted to make vegan. Super friendly staff and good food.

Amazing! - Edit
Wish I could give 5 stars. Super friendly people very willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. Food is less greasy than typical Mexi restaurants. One thing that did surprise me was my burrito came to me deep fried but it was still good!

Best, most authentic Mexican food in Anchorage - Edit
UPDATE (2016): While this is still our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, in fairness I have to update this review by noting that the portions have diminished noticeably over the past few years. The burritos, enchiladas, and gorditas all have gotten quite a bit smaller, to the point where we have to order more food now to be satisfied. It won't stop us from eating there (yet), but I can sympathize with folks who feel the amount of food they get is no longer worth the already-high prices.

Fortunately, the best in town, Mexico In Alaska, has an extensive vegetarian menu. My family and I eat there frequently, and we always have plenty of options to choose from. We've tried many of their offerings, and everything has been delicious -- I especially love their mole sauce. As another reviewer pointed out, they don't serve your typical Americanized Mexican fare; it's much more authentic. (How often will you find a cactus dish on the menu?) Aside from the food, the decor is pleasing, and the service is generally very prompt. The prices are fairly high, even for Anchorage, but the servings are ample -- and, of course, the food is worth it.
Highly recommended!

Tea lovers - Edit
Mexico in Alaska is not "Tex-Mex." While it offers the standard beans, rice and corn in most meals on the menu, etc., it also has a few unusual things like homemade chocolate mole sauce. It's a cut above other Mexican restaurants in Anchorage. The best thing in the whole place is the ice tea though. The owner created this blend and guards the recipe zealously. It's like breathing in and drinking flowers at the same time. If you like tea, you must try this one.
