Vegan buffet with Laotian, Vietnamese style dishes. Includes herbal drinks and Laotian desserts. JUN 2013 REPORTED SHUT DOWN/CLOSED, replaced by a meat restaurant.
The Lunch Buffet is cheaper than at most other places (22000 instead of 25000) but for a reason. The food is really nothing special which I think is annoying because they really use ingredients with which they could do much better. we came at half past 11 and everything was already cold which I don't mind except for the soup. Cold soup is a strange concept. I think they heat it up if you want. I saw some locals getting their's heated up but they didn't offer to heat ours up.
It all didn't look that appetizing but it get's you full.
As a matter of fact I'm not a big fan of any lunch buffet in Vientiane. I would prefer paying less and just getting one plate. Annoyingly lunch buffets are the most common veggie places
The help-yourself lunchtime buffet is very good value at 25,000 kip. An excellent soup, a wide range of dishes to go with rice (try a tiny amount of each to see if any exceed your chilli comfort level) and dessert. To find it, walk up Chau Anou from the river, crossing Setthathirath Road and Rue Hengboun. When you cross the next one, Samsenthai (with one-way traffic going in the opposite direction to Setthathirath), the Win Hotel is on your left. Keep on going, past the Western Union/money exchange and Melina is on your right, on the other side of the street from V.A.T Import Export Co. If you reach Rue du Puitts or Khoun Boulom you have gone too far.
An excellent vegan lunch buffet, popular with both locals and foreigners. The dishes are delicious, with interesting Lao flavours. A highlight is the various Lao deserts - stewed bananas with coconut cream and more. Everything is well prepared and presented. The restaurant itself is pleasant, clean and colourful with some tasteful decoration. The workers are friendly and professional. And at 25,000 kip, it's great value.
cute small place, mostly entirely local lunch spot, small buffet that was extremely good value and very fresh food .. only open for lunch .. highly recommend ..
I tried out three different veg*n restaurants during my stay and this was hands-down the best. Wide variety of choices, delicious food, all-you-can-eat for 25,000 kip. Location was very central and easy to find. I especially loved how clean this place was compared to the other ones.
Maleena boasts what is probably the most diverse of buffets in Vientiane. Though a recent addition to Vientiane's veg landscape, Maleena became an instant classic. The Lao owner, Tia, speaks very basic English as well as fluent Indonesian. Highly recommended.
very tasty lunch buffet for 20,000 kip (~$2.50 USD) Melina's really knows how to cook wonderful Lao and regional foods with high quality ingredients. the restaurant is a little hard to find - look for one of the small shops on the right side across the street from the Lao-Viet badminton center and down the road from the Win Hotel
