Maggie Mudd!!! More vegan than I was expecting!

My friend and I took a bus out to this neighborhood from Union Square - let me tell you, the bus ride (9L or 9) is a little sketchy as the bus goes through some sketchy areas so if you're uncomfortable just drive. As a Chicagoan, I wasn't uncomfortable and felt totally safe despite it being sketchy, so the bus option is fine in my opinion.

This place is definitely cute and has a lot more vegan options than I had anticipated. I was actually shocked they carried dairy stuff since they had a lot of things advertising for veganisim (shirts, brochures, posters). They had two kinds of vegan ice cream, soy and coconut, with multiple options for flavors. I got the Tarmac (soy) and the Dubliner (coconut). While both were unbelievably delicious, I preferred the Tarmac. My friend got a coconut ice cream with cinnamon and also loved it. Overall this is a great little ice cream place, check it out if you can.

Pros: VERY reasonably priced

Vegan heaven

As an (former) icecream lover, this place was like going to heaven. It had 20 vegan flavours when we were there, including the amazing tarmack (chocolate, peanut butter), and our sundae was out of this world good. Absolutely loved this place, and hope to re-visit frequently! You don't go to this place for decor or ambience - it's about the ice "cream"!

Pros: Huge portions

YUM!

maggie mud's is kind of a hole in the wall ice cream parlor. the decor is lacking, but the product really makes up for it. there are a lot of vegan ice creams, they are easily marked on their menu, and they have fun/yummy combos. the ice cream is delicious. i mean it. coconut ice cream in so many flavors.
they have a list of where their ice cream is distributed, so look up your city if you are from out of town and your local health food store may carry it.

Pros: vegan ice cream!, flavor options

Cons: lacking ambiance
