Lots of vegan and vegetarian options!

Loved the vegan burrito! Humungous portion size! Super lively and great music too!

Edited: For my gluten-free people (specifically celiac peeps) this place is not the best in terms of cross-contamination as a heads up!

Clearly marked vegan options!

Loved the inside, very trendy but not over done. Also has a large patio space. All veg options are clearly marked, even sides and add ons. Our server was super friendly and was able to answer all my crazy veg questions.

Pros: Lots of vegan options!

Good Options

Not the best tasting for being pricey. Ben’s Wrap with guac is a personal favorite.

Fresh Vegan Mexican

Everything was made from scratch with fresh ingredients. It wasn’t overwhelming heavy with oils and they don’t use fake vegan cheese. The portions are sizable! The burrito is big enough for two to share :)

Great vegan Burrito

I had the spicy vegan burrito and it was amazing! So huge too, I saved the other half for lunch today. They had so many choices for vegans and the menu is clearly marked! I will definitely head back again for more.

Pros: Lots of options , Large portions, Flavorful

Great vegan options

Unlike some places where vegan options means simply removing cheese or meat from a dish, this place actually has a number of dishes actually made intentionally vegan. A couple of their dishes are made with potatoes as their main filling, which was delicious. And another bonus is that they really do label everything, even the sides, so you know exactly what is and isn't vegan just by looking at the menu.

PERFECT DATE NIGHT SPOT

Visited this place while I was in Norfolk, VA for a concert. I remember I got the spicy guacamole and some type of vegetable tacos for dinner. The food was amazing. I highly recommend going here. Perfect place for a date night. Not to mention the inside of Luna Maya is beautiful.

Reliably Great Foid

Luna Maya is one of our standby favorite restaurants! Unlike many of the local restaurants that may offer only an isolated vegetarian or vegan options, Luna Maya has a host of options: vegan quesadilla, vegan wrap, vegan enchiladas, veggie tacos that are vegan, & more options, I think. Virtually all parts of their menu ( except not the dessert menu) have vegan options. Even the Happy Hour menu has a few vegan options. We've tried most of the possibilities, and all have been delicious! There are more vegetarian options.

Best of all, the vegan options are built around real food rather than fake meat or cheese.

Pros: Lots of options, Great food

Cons: Can be crowded & noisy at peak times

Hands down, tastiest vegan options in the area

The Hampton Roads area is not known for having Veg*n exclusive restaurants. And many of the places on Happy Cow that have vegan options include Gardien and Daiya products (probably due to PeTA being in the area). Luna Maya is NOT one of those places.

Luna Maya offers more authentic, Bolivian/Latin American food, than your average American Tex/Mex eatery. Their cooking techniques and flavor profile show a more unique perspective. Think more Rick Bayless than Plaza Azteca (a local Mexican chain). The place is a little more upscale and pricier than your average Tex/Mex, and it does it crowded and loud during peak dining hours. But they offer the tastiest vegan options in the area, no question about it. Chips are not free, and entrees run $12-14, so the prices are fairly moderate.

The menu is clearly delineated what is vegan, so no need to ask what you can eat or ask for a special menu. Don't expect Gardien and Daiya tacos (go to Tortilla West or Pelon's if that is the cheap/bar food you are looking for). Their burritos and enchiladas have unique fillings, and all their sides, rice, beans, potatoes, are uniquely seasoned. I hate using the word "unique" over and over again, but after going to dozens of TexMex places and getting bean burrito, hold the cheese, don't expect the run of the mill sides and flavors at Luna Maya.

Happy Cow only allows non-veg restaurants to have a max rating of 4. If you personally are ok eating at non-veg establishments, then there is simply no other place in the area that has veg*n food this good. I'm shocked no one else has even reviewed the place yet.

Pros: Best Tasting Food in area, Vegan Items Clearly Marked, Really, the food is that good.

Cons: Can get noisey
