Satisfy your guilty pleasures in an ethical way

This food stall offers a wide variety of local favourites with a vegetarian twist, selling (all mock) fried chicken cutlet, curry chicken rice, nasi lemak and bak chor mee (mince meat noodle).

It is better known for its fried and curry dishes amongst the students there, but is by no means limited to them.

The curry chicken rice was already sold out by noon, so I ordered a fried chicken cutlet, a bak chor mee and a bowl of mushroom soup.

The fried chicken cutlet was very crispy, and the mock meat gives its texture a unique tenderness. The fries were also a delight to eat. Also, even if the mock chicken and fries are fried in vegetable oil, there is no msg.

For me, however, their best dish was the bak chor mee. I'm not a fan of salty dishes, and their bak chor mee gets the taste just right - not too plain, not too heavy, but with plenty of taste. There is a healthy mix of carrots, chinese lettuce and bean sprouts so you don't miss out on your veggie nutrition, and I don't get the heaty heaviness that accompanies other bak chor mees that use too much chilli.

That said, the mushroom soup was horrible. There was way too much pepper and salt, and I could barely taste the mushrooms. However, I don't rate the restaurant based on what it's bad at.

The store is popular amongst the students on campus, and was visited by local radio station 958 twice.

Pros: Good variation, Solid food is all decent

Cons: Soup is terrible
