This is a place that all old local San Franciscans' know.
The same family has been making only Foccacia bread for over 100 years. Still my favorite even compared to similar breads in Genoa and throughout Italy.
It is simply delicious. Whatever you are thinking of ordering - double that and you will still crave it.
Located across from Washington Square and the Cathedral in North Beach in a simple bare bones store front that has never changed. They still wrap the bread slabs in white paper with string. Until a few years ago it was all vegan but theyve recently added a topping flavor of jalapeno cheddar.
My favorites are the green onion and all time favorite pizza. The plain is good to make sandwiches.
If you are going to eat it right away ask them to slice it for you and they will cut it in bite size strips.
I suggest people phone ahead to guarantee they will have what you want as they often sell out.
For tourists grab a salad or some antipasto from one of the near-by Italian deli's on Columbus street and you have a great vegan meal to enjoy in the Park.Pros: Delicious, Traditional, Inexpensive
