I am a huge fan of Liba Falafel's food truck, and was super excited to learn that they were opening a restaurant relatively close to where I live (and 1 block from where I work!)
The format is pretty simple, you can order a falafel pita for ~$8 or salad for $9. Sounds a little pricey, but here's the rub: there is a toppings bar and almost all the items are vegan. Stack that up and you're looking at a significant amount of delicious veggies, salads, pickles, hummus, chutneys etc. I assume the salad costs more because you can pile so much stuff onto it with ease. With this in mind, the prices are actually pretty good.
The falafel itself can be a little lost under all the toppings but it's really very good and fresh with plenty of sesame seeds mixed in and a good taste to it. Always has a good crispy outer layer, none of the half-fried mushiness that I've experienced at some other east bay falafel joints.
Other items such as sweet potato fries or pita chips are an option too, and although delicious I usually forgo these because the standard falafel can amount to such massive portions.
They also have some baked goods and other desserts, including vegan cookies which are quite tasty.
After the official opening they will have evening and Saturday hours, but for now their hours are limited to 11-2 M-F.
