We can't emphasise enough how happy we were to find this place. Rothenburg ob de Tauber is a really tourist-y spot, and so the food is pretty average at best - luckily we came across Lebe Gesund on our first day in the town!
The shop is 100% vegan (apart from a few jars of honey), and is located right near the main square of this beautiful medieval town. They also have an outdoor market stall on Saturdays during the summer.
All of the products are organically grown, and come from a family farm and orchid nearby. We were told by the friendly shopkeeper that the profits from the shop are invested back into buying land for their animal sanctuary.
Everything in this store is DELICIOUS (plus there are so many samples to try while you're in there!). Some highlights are the apple chips, the whole range of vegan spreads and dips (Wild garlic, aubergine), and the amazing vegan cookies.
The shop also sells its own homemade vegan breads and a few organic veges from their farm. We highly recommend grabbing some of their fresh bread, cucumber and dips, and heading out for your own picnic on the old town wall.Pros: Delicious food & authentic atmosphere, local, vegan and organic, super friendly staff
