Lots of options

I love the variety of vegetables and sauces that we vegan. You do have to tell them you want it vegan, otherwise there is a choice that meat touches your food. They set it up the same way they do if there is an allergy, separate spatulas and guarded from any flinging meat pieces.

There are a variety of sauces that are vegan too which means you can get a lot of flavors out of your food.

I felt like my meal was cold though by the time I got to my table which was odd since everyone else's food seemed to be sizzling.

Pros: Lots of vegetables to choose from

Cons: Meat is cooked on the same grill

Vegan-friendly, but could be better...

This restaurant has a great concept: Fill a bowl with your choice of noodles, veggies, and protein foods, and sauces, and they will stir-fry it for you on a grill. If you wish, you can add rice, peanuts, chow mein noodles and/or coconut flakes to the finished product.

For your first trip there, I recommend asking for the ingredients list. You will learn, for example, that of the noodles offered, only the pad Thai noodles are vegan.

The first station was all meat, so I skipped it. Was happy to see the meat separate from the vegetable station.

The vegetable station included black beans and tofu. Unfortunately, the tofu is non-organic and likely contains GMOs, so I skipped it. The vegetable station also includes broccoli, snap peas, onion, shredded carrots, small pineapple cubes, mung bean sprouts, cilantro and more. Plenty of vegan options for a stir fry.

The last food station is the sauce station. Some of the sauces that appear vegan from the ingredients listed are NOT vegan. This includes the peanut sauce which only lists the vegan ingredients, but not the fish sauce and dairy it contains. Be sure the sauce you want is labeled with a V for vegetarian, and then check the ingredients list to make sure it's vegan. I used garlic oil, sesame oil, and lemon juice. I skipped the non-organic soy sauce, as it contains GMOs.

After adding the sauces, the next stop is the grill. Tell the cook you're vegan, and he will clean a section of the grill for you, cordon it off for your food with 2 spatulas, and use 2 more spatulas for stir-frying your food that won't touch anyone else's food. The cooks and wait staff are very nice and helpful.

Although I was happy to eat here 3 times during my vacation in Rapid City, I would have been a lot happier if the food were organic. Broccoli, for example, contains a lot of pesticides, and non-organic soy products such as tofu and soy sauce contain GMOs. Also, I was very disappointed the peanut sauce was not vegan. It is so unnecessary to add fish sauce and dairy!

Tasty Mongolian cuisine

The employees had no idea what vegan was, but they gladly accommodated our request, cleaned and separated the grill from all other orders after we made out vegan selections.

Pros: Accomodating, tofu, a few vegan sauces

Cons: offered nonvegan desserts, didn't understand vegan requirements.
